DO YOU USE GAS?

In using gas to cook, one must be more than careful in the sense of noticing all that is going on around you.

A shocking accident happened on the 13th day of February, 2013 when a housewife died of an explosion from gas burner in her kitchen. The lady observed a cockroach near her washing basin and she grabbed a can of insecticide then sprayed it on the cockroach which was near the gas while still cooking. On spraying the insecticide there was an explosion and in no time the woman was caught by the fire and burnt her to the extent of sustaining 65% burns.

The husband while trying to save her also caught fire.
While an admission the husband was not informed that her wife was declared dead on arrival.

REASON FOR EXPLOSION

The insecticide contains atomize nano spray which spreads very rapidly. It is enough to ignite an explosion with the presence of oxygen.

LESSONS
1. Don't spray any flammable elements/solvents such as insecticides(Raid, Sheltos, Mortein and Body Spray) because they are highly volatile which makes them spread quickly.

2. Do not strike metals to sparks near a flaring gas, especially if you are not sure if its leaking.

3. Do not give room for children to play around gas related household equipment

4. Always close the nob after cooking.

ALWAYS MAKE "SAFETY" YOUR WATCHWORD IN EVERYTHING YOU DO.

FG GAVE US NO CHOICE BUT FOR THE STRIKE TO CONTINUE-ASUU PRESIDENT

In a bid to end the ongoing strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU, a directive was given by the President two days to the two FG committees appointed to negotiate with ASUU, the strike started on July 2 and the negotiation was not enough to keep ASUU at the table.

The body said it was necessary to do so because of the FG's perceived insincerity in the 2009 agreement as well as the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) both parties signed in January last year.

According to Dr. Nassir Faggae Isa, ASUU President, who addressed a press briefing at the University of Lagos on Thursday before any further progress can be achieved, the 2009 agreement and the MoU must be honoured. Further talks or even negotiations of terms can only happen he said.

Faggae said, "Consequently, our members are left  with no other choice than to prosecute this strike ti its logical conclusion. ASUU memners nationwide are saying this strike will not be suspended until and unless the government respects the 2009 agreement and make concrete efforts to implement in the best interest of the country."

According to him, during the meeting held between ASUU and the government representative on Monday, government declared that it neither had any motive to revitalize public universities through committed funding nor was it ready to pay in full the accumulated Earned Academic Allowances between 2009 through 2013.

Omon Oleabhiele who called for the immediate establishment of Tradional Medicine Hospitals to operate side by side with the orthodox medical hospitals, where patients should have the right of choice for their treatment method, which noted that the Oba of Benin, Oba Erediauwa, was the first to call for such establishment.

NIGERIAN PARENTS

In Nigeria today, it is of very high probability that most parents don't want their child/ward to venture into any business while still schooling. They say "we don't want you to be distracted in your studies" meanwhile to another child/ward, doing one thing without being engaged in other things later is not their type and might not get them to being focused and serious about life generally. All because they don't have a fixed time to get on to the next schedule they would have lined up for themselves. I've seen students complained about such issues who saying "I don't feel serious and responsible for my life relying on my parents, i feel like sending a sum of an amount to their accounts every month end. I want to feel responsible for something(guys especially)." But every time you tell them "I need something to focus on when I'm not busy and something I can rely on" they'll say "don't worry, we'll always get you anything you need." But they don't always do everything. Do they?
Hit your keypads and tell your experience.
