Drug Trafficking: Malaysia sentenced a 35-year old Nigerian man to death

Abuchi Ngwoke, a Nigerian was sentenced to death yesterday November 25th by a Malaysian High Court on the conviction of drug trafficking. He was arrested at the Malaysian airport in 2012 after being found with a 251.66 grams of Methamphetamine.

According to reports, the drugs was swallowed from Nigeria before boarding a flight to Malaysia.
The court is yet to fix a date for his execution.

Naira Devalued

The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Godwin Emefiele yesterday devalued by N13. The Governor said it was part of the effort to strengthen the nation's economy. This was announced after the meeting with Monetary Policy Committee.

The Governor said under the new arrangement that the Naira would exchange for N168 instead of the old official rate of N155 to one dollar.

He said the meeting also decided to increase the Monetary Policy Rate by 100 basis point from 12% to 13%. The MPR is the rate which banks borrow from CBN to cover their immediate cash shortfalls.
The Governor noted that there was an increase in Cash Reserve Ratio on private sector deposits by 500 basis point from 15% to 20%.

After the devaluation of Naira, it was noticed on 26th of November that the value of Naira has even became weaker as it already fell to N176.85 against one dollar.
Value of Naira to Dollar is now at 0.0057.

Oldest Man Ever Lived

An Indian man named Mahashta Murasi who claimed to be 179 years old was born in Bangalore on the 6th of January, 1835.
He lived and worked in Varansi as a cobbler till 1957 when he retired at the age of 122 years.
He claimed all his children and grand-children have all died for decades, said somehow maybe death has forgotten him and that he had already lost hope in dying. He also claims he may be an immortal says death cannot kill him again saying nobody dies after 150 years of age.
His birth certificate and identity cards all confirmed it but no medical examination can confirm his claims for now. The last doctor Mr Murasi visited died in 1971, so there is little information about health problems.
He name has now been entered into the Guiness World Book of Records as the oldest man of India in history.
